Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia Associated with Alveolar Cyst and Hypoplasia of the Left Lung Report of a Case

Abstract
This is report of a case of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia associated with lung hypoplasia and alveolar cyst at the lateral basal segment of hypoplastic left lung.
The patient was a 35 year old male and diaphragmatic rupture occured by falling down to the ground in 3 years old of his age. Afterward, there has been no embarrassing symptoms until now for about 32 years.
The herniated organs were entire stomach, small intestine and transvers colon. After reduction of the herniated organs back to the abdominal cavity, the ruptured diaphragmatic orifice was closed with double surtures. At the same time, diaphragmatic thoracoplasty was performed to reduce the remaining dead space in the left pleural cavity, which developed from reduction of extensively herniated organs and hypoplastic left lung.
Discussion on the mechanism of development of acquired hypoplasia of the whole lung and a large alveolar lung cyst is submitted with reviewing literature.
